My first MR experiment outdoors
My first MR experiment outdoors, in a back alleyway of my neighbourhood, and my first time wearing a VR headset in the street. Though it still feels awkward, I find the experience far superior to AR.
Here, I'm revisiting an old exploration in AR interaction mechanics I did in early 2019 (here on Instagram and on Twitter) and bringing it to life in MR, thanks to the Quest 3's impressive passthrough capabilities.
In this experience, the user's position, particularly their radial motion, can manipulate the flow of time. Moving around the 'sculpture', the user goes through the recorded physics simulation, and can pause it.
After sharing this on IG and X, several people drew comparisons to William Gibson's 2007 novel 'Spook Country' and the 2016 video game 'SUPERHOT'.
